Cardinal Bertone's Christmas Greetings to Sick Children
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone made a Christmas visit today
to the Bambino Gesu children’s hospital here in Rome. The hospital was founded in
1869 and for the last 80 years has been considered an institution of the Holy See,
under the governance and control of the Secretariat of State."
The Hospital
strives to give the best possible care to sick children while maintaining its Christian
ethos.
It is also famous for it advanced surgery techniques. The Cardinal
thanked all those who look after the children in their care saying that their work
was vital not only in pioneering surgery that is carried out in this place that bears
the name "Baby Jesus", but also in the everyday work of that is done.
