Pope’s message for anniversary of Pope John Paul II Centre

(December 08, 2010) Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday prayed and hoped that every young person may find true peace in Christ and His Mother Mary when they visit the Loreto Sanctuary in Ancona, central Italy. The Pope’s of prayers and hopes were expressed in a message for the 10th anniversary of the Youth Center inaugurated near Loreto, by late Pope John Paul II on December 7th in the year 2000. The Center, named after Pope John Paul II is visited by youth from all over Italy and the world. The message sent in the Pontiff’s name by Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarciscio Bertone was addressed to Archbishop Giovanni Tonucci of Loreto.
Pope Benedict’s message read at the anniversary prayer ceremony, conveyed his spiritual participation in the joy of the community of Loreto and numerous youth gathered to thank God for the precious work of John Paul II Centre. The Papal message noted that in this decade, the Centre has become an increasingly important reference point for many initiatives for youth. Those who go on a pilgrimage to the Shrine, submit to Our Lady of Loreto, all their aspirations and hopes and even their delusions and worries, said the Pope. He hoped that they would face all their challenges courageously and come to better understanding of themselves, gain a heightened awareness of the presence of Jesus in their lives, and guide their choices in life with eyes fixed - not on themselves, but on the Cross of Jesus, meditating on His death and resurrection and the infinite love of God, realizing that “no one has greater love than this, to lay down his life for his friends”.
