Burma's Aung San Suu Kyi offically barred from election vote
Burma’s detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi is officially barred from voting
in elections due to take place in November.
Electoral rolls posted today
left her name off the list of eligible voters.
Ahead of the Nov. 7 polls, the
junta has enacted several laws that effectively banned the Nobel Peace Prize laureate
from voting.
It comes as no surprise, the Executive Director of the Burma
Campaign UK, Anna Roberts, told Vatican Radio adding that there is no way the elections
will be “free and fair”.
She also said it won’t “bring the solutions of freedom
and democracy that Burma’s people want.”
