It's nearly 30 years since the last papal visit to Britain and according to the head
of the Jesuit Communications Centre in London, Ged Clapson, although the mood of
society has changed dramatically since then and become much more secularised there's
still a hunger for spirituality.....
"...we've still got that faith root here
but it's much more secularised as indeed Pope Benedict has criticised..... what you've
got is people more prepared to challenge...."
.."there are a lot of issues
where groups that you might think were opposed to Church teaching are actually in
total agreement ....."
"... I think it would be very good to hear not just
what he (the pope) says but also the meaning behind it, the motivavation, and a lot
of people are looking forward to hearing him ......."
