This story takes us back in time to the 1st of October 1950 when Pius XII sent a radio message through the microphones of Vatican Radio to English Catholics gathered in Wembley stadium. The radio message made history because it marked a century and a half since the restoration by Pius IX of the Catholic hierarchy in England and Wales .
