(September 10, 2010) Pope Benedict XVI on Friday received in private audience Hungarian
president Pál Schmitt. The Vatican press office said in a brief note that during
the friendly talks the two leaders reviewed the situation in Hungary specially with
regard to the contribution of the Catholic Church in the common good, particularly
in the family and social sectors. They also talked about the Hungary’s currently
presidency of the European Community and some of the current issues in international
politivcs. The Hungarian president later met Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal
Tarciso Bertone and Vatican Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Dominique
Mamberti.
