(Aug.11,2010) Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday sent a message of greetings to all the
Catholics of Argentina, encouraging them cooperate in the charitable action planned
for September in all the parishes. The message was sent in the Pope’s name by Vatican
Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarciscio Bertone to the Papal Nuncio in Argentina,
Archbishop Adriano Bernardini. The Papal message called on Argentinians to respond
with sincere generosity to the National Collection titled “More or Less”, as the country
was facing a difficult situation. The Pope’s message also lauded the commendable work
carried out by the Episcopal Commission for Assistance to the most needy regions,
and said the initiative of the Church seeks to promote solidarity and help the most
disadvantaged. The Pope’s message concluded entrusting to Our Lady of Lujàn, heavenly
patron of the Argentine people, the worthy initiative of the Church. The 41st
National Collection “More or Less” will be held September 11 and 12 in all the parishes
of Argentina with the slogan “Let’s build a story without exclusion”. The funds of
this initiative are distributed each year among 25 needy dioceses to aid housing,
community kitchens and micro-business projects.
