Pope’s condolences to Guatemala’s “Agatha” storm victims.

(June 02,2010) Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday expressed his profound condolences, prayers and solidarity to the people of Guatemala, suffering untold damage from a rain storm that hit Guatemala City on Saturday. The Pope’s message of concern and affection for the victims, the injured and the homeless was sent by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarciscio Bertone to the Guatemalan Church and people.
The terrible Tropical storm Agatha that bore down on the central American country claimed at least 180 people, injured hundreds and left numerous families homeless. Pope Benedict called on the international community, national institutions and all people of goodwill to provide speedy and effective assistance to the people and the country to overcome their difficulties.
