Bring Christ’s message to wider public Pope tells Catholic Media Convention
(June 02,2010) Pope Benedict XVI on Wed. spoke of the extraordinary potential of
the new media, to bring the message of Christ and the teachings of His Church to the
attention of a wider public. In a message after his weekly general audience addressed
to the Catholic Media Convention in New Orleans. U.S. the Pope sent his cordial greetings
and his apostolic blessing to the journalists and communications experts participating
at the three-day Convention that will conclude on Friday. The Papal message encouraged
the participants saying - “If your mission is to be truly effective, and if the
words you proclaim are to touch hearts, engage people’s freedom and change their
lives, you must draw them into an encounter with persons and communities, who witness
to the grace of Christ by their faith and their lives.” The Pope hoped that their
days spent together at the convention, will renew and refresh their shared enthusiasm
for the Gospel. The theme of the June 2-4 Convention is “Spreading the Good
News – Byte by Byte”. Held annually, it is promoted by the Catholic Press Association
and the Catholic Academy for Communications Arts Professionals.
