Holy See against all violence, says Papal spokesman
(June 01,2010) The Holy See is always against any type of violence, as it renders
difficult to reach a peaceful and just solution, said the Director of the Holy See’s
Press office on Monday. Jesuit Fr. Federico Lombardi was, responding to questions
from journalists regarding the Israeli raid on a flotilla of Turkish ships taking
aid to Gaza. Fr. Lombardi said that the events are very painful, in particular
due to the useless loss of life and numerous injured. According to new reports at
least 9 persons were killed and dozens injured. Fr. Lombardi said the Holy See was
following the event with great attention and much preoccupation. In Turkey, which
had unofficially supported the aid mission, news of the attack sparked violent protests.
