Pope’s donation to flood affected Poland.

(May 26,2010) Pope Benedict XVI has sent a donation to Poland in the wake of unprecedented floods provoked by torrential rains in the country, claiming many victims and leading to massive evacuations. Monday’s press communiqué of Vatican’s Pontifical Council “Cor Unum” said that the Papal gift was sent to Bishop Jozef Michalik, President of the Polish Episcopal Conference, to assist the flood victims and evacuees in the worst hit areas of their dioceses. The Council said the Holy Father’s gesture through “Cor Unum”, is intended to show his closeness to the suffering people, and his paternal encouragement to those, who are generously offering aid relief.
