India to mark end of Year for priests by 40-hour Eucharistic adoration
(May26,2010) To mark the end of the Year for Priests in India, a 40-hour long Eucharistic
adoration is being organised by the Congregation of the Disciples of the Divine Master
in Bangalore - Karnataka State, and in Mumbai, Maharashtra State. The long Eucharistic
adoration is to ask God to help humanity and particularly the Church, the Pope, bishops
and priests in these times of suffering. Prayer will begin at 7 a.m. on June 10 in
the chapel of Prarthanalaya in Bangalore, and will end at 6 a.m. on 12th
June. The provincial superior of the congregation, Sister Kanikaimary, told AsiaNews
that they have invited all the faithful to participate, even if the vigil will be
reserved for nuns. She said the priestly Year was celebrated in all their 18 homes,
as the priesthood is linked to their charism and to their vocation. The nun said
they have a special ministry for priests and spiritually, morally and physically
they are called to look after their welfare. She added that the charisma of the Disciples,
starts with prayer for vocations and concludes with the assistance to the elderly
or sick priests. Sr. Kanikaimary said their founder, Fr Alberione, has instilled
in them a particular desire to take care of the elderly and the sick.
