Appointment of the Apostolic Nuncio to India
(May 8, 2010) The Holy Father has appointed on Saturday, May 8, 2010 new Apostolic Nuncio to India in place of Archbishop Lopez Quintana who was appointed Nuncio to Canada on December 10, 2009. His Excellency Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Titular Archbishop of Montemarano, now Apostolic Nuncio to Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia and Apostolic Delegate to Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia and Brunei is appointed as the Nuncio to India. Archbishop Pennacchio was born on the 7th of September 1952 at Marano, Italy. He was ordained priest on the 18th of September 1976. On the 28th of November he was appointed Archbishop of Montemarano and made Nuncio to Rwanda. On 20th of September 2003 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia and Apostolic Delegate to Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia and Brunei.
