Pope Appoints New Bishops to Clogher, Ireland and Ondo, Nigeria
(06 May 10 – RV) On Thursday Pope Benedict XVI accepted the resignation of the following
prelates: Bishop Joseph Duffy of the Diocese of Clogher Ireland, on having reached
the age of retirement; Bishop Francis Florunsho Clement Alonge, of the diocese of
Ondo, Nigeria, on having reached the age of retirement; bishop Francis Lagan, auxiliary
bishop in the diocese of Derry, Northern Ireland, on having reached the age of retirement.
Pope
Benedict XVI has appointed Liam McDaid, bishop of the diocese of Clogher. Mgr. McDaid
was formerly the Chancellor of the Diocese of Clogher.
The Holy Father has
appointed bishop Jude AyodejiArogundade to the diocese of Ondo. Mgr Arogundade
was formerly coadjutor bishop in the same diocese.
