COMECE Marks European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion

(RV - 16 Apr 2010) The Conference of European Catholic Bishops or COMECE today concluded its two day Spring Plenary Assembly in Brussels.

The main topic of the Plenary was 2010, European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.

One of the speakers at the gathering was the President of Caritas Europa, Fr. Erny Gillen.

He told us that the number of people now living below the poverty line in Europe is alarming.
