(April 15, 2010) Vatican’s Pontifical Liturgical Office has confirmed Pope Benedict
XVI’s approval of 7 beatifications to take place between April and June this year.
Among them is the chaplain of the Polish Solidarity movement, Father Jerzy Popieluszko,
(1947-1984). The 37-year-old priest was assassinated by Communist secret service agents.
He will be beatified in Warsaw, Poland June 6. Also on the list are: - Spanish
Jesuit Fr. Bernardo de Hoyos, to be beatified in the Cathedral of Valladolid in
Spain on April 18. Italian Carmelite priest, Fr. Angelo Paoli, will be beatified
in St John Lateran Basilica in Rome - April 25. Spanish Capuchin Fr. José y Soler
in the Basilica of the Holy Mary in Barcelona on April 25 Italian Franciscan nun,
Sr.Teresa Manganiello will be beatified in Benevento, Italy, May 22, Another Italian
Sister Maria Pierina De Micheli will be beatified in Rome’s St. Mary Major Basilica,
May 30 Manuel Lozano Garrido, a layman will be beatified in Jaen, Spain on 12
June.
