(April 14, 2010) : The Vatican Information Service, VIS, has started a blog in four
languages to present archives and current news. The blog is available in English,
Spanish, French and Italian. It also links to the Vatican's Twitter account and YouTube
home page. So far, the blog has some 35,000 news items on the Pope and the Holy See.
The new blog of VIS has had a very brilliant opening," Spanish journalist and
VIS Director - Miguel Castellvi told ZENIT. He said on Monday, they had a total
of 9,532 visits, with 6,216 to the blog in English, 1,562 to the Italian, 1,017 to
the Spanish and 737 to the French. The information service is also venturing into
Twitter, he said and added “For the first time on Monday we 'twittered', giving
on the Vatican's twitter page the main news of Monday’s VIS bulletin." The Vatican
Information Service is already in its 20th year. It transmits a daily e-mail news
bulletin to subscribers at 3 p.m., Rome time.
