(8 Feb 10 - RV) In opening remarks to the participants at an international ecumenical
symposium on Monday, the President of the Vatican’s Council for Promoting Christian
Unity, Cardinal Walter Kasper suggested the drawing up of an ecumenical catechism. Titled
‘Harvesting the Fruits’ the three day meeting brings together over 30 leading theologians
from the Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, Methodist and Reformed Churches to discuss
the future of the ecumenical movement. Cardinal Kasper spoke with Philippa Hitchen
about the goals of the meeting and difficulties to be overcome:
