Poverty Fuels Revolt in Southern Thailand


(07 Jan 10 - RV) Three bombs exploded in southern Thailand today, killing one security officer and wounding another.




Violence in Thailand's three southernmost provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat has killed more than 3,900 people since 2004.




The explosions came just hours ahead of a visit by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, who presided over the opening of a new highway between Pattani and Yala.
