(November 23, 2009) The main events of the Asian Youth Day kicked off on Monday with
some 1,500 youth representatives from Asian countries attending the inaugural Mass
in the diocese of Imus, in the Philippines. Bishop Luis Antonio Tagle of Imus led
30 bishops and 200 priests at the inaugural Mass of the 5th Asian Youth Day that is
being organized by the Youth Desk of the Office of the Federation of Asian Bishops’
Conferences, FABC. The preliminary phase of the meet began earlier on Friday, with
the arrival of delegates, their accommodation in families, exposure to parishes and
community service. The main events of the Asian Youth Meet that began on Monday will
run through Friday. The theme of the Nov. 20-27 meet is ‘Living the Eucharist.”
