Pope Benedict returns to Vatican from Castel Gandolfo
(October 03, 2009) Pope Benedict XVI arrived in Vatican on Saturday 3rd
of October after spending his summer at his summer residence at Castel Gandolfo in
the outskirts of Rome. The Pope had arrived to this place on the 29th of
July after spending a few days of quiet rest in the Mountains of Austria. In the last
week of September the Pontiff visited the Czech Republic and had been to the Shrine
of Infant Jesus. Prior to his departure Pope Benedict thanked all those who had helped
him and the visitors during the summer, particularly the religious and civil authorities
and spoke to them about the life example of the Little Flower, St Theresa of Lisieux.
On Sunday 4th of October the African Synod of Bishops will commence in
Rome and the Pope will be in the Vatican during the opening of the Synod.
