Pope gives approval for 2012 Dublin’s International Eucharistic Congress

(Sept.22,2009): - Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday approved the theme and the date of the next International Eucharistic Congress to be held in the Irish capital of Dublin in 2012. The celebration of the Congress will take place June 10-17 on the theme “The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with one another. The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and among ourselves.” Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin hopes that the meeting of the Universal Church in Ireland in 2012 helps us understand the Eucharist as the real and personal communion with Jesus Christ, and rediscover the essence of Eucharist features of every Christian community. The prelate also emphasized the possibility of developing the topic of the next International Eucharistic Congress with reflection on some important issues like - communion with Christ -the foundation of a Christian ; the Eucharist as a way of life for priests, Christian families and religious communities; the Eucharist as a seed of life for the world of suffering and frailty, and ecumenism and participation in the one bread.
Meanwhile, the Irish capital of Dublin has already installed the local committee, which will finalize the text of the basic theological and preparation for the 2012 event.
