World Honours Aid Workers Killed Helping Others

(19 Aug 09 - RV) Today is World Humanitarian Day. For the first time aid workers, on the frontlines of conflicts around the world, are being honoured, but emphasis is also being placed on current humanitarian needs and challenges.

The day is being marked on the 6th anniversary of a truck bombing of the United Nations Headquarters in the Iraqi capital Baghdad which killed 22 people.

We spoke to Alaistair Duttan, Humanitarian Director with Caritas Internationalis who says that despite security concerns aid workers do risk their lives to help those in need RealAudioMP3
