Living the Eucharist through Violence, Hope and Persecution in Pakistan
(14 Aug 09 - RV) A regional survey on Asian Youth and the Eucharist was released today
at the 9th Federation of Asian Bishops Conference Plenary in Manila. The detailed
survey was carried out among 1200 young respondents. They were questioned on why
they receive Communion, their knowledge of liturgy and the effects of the Eucharist
in their daily life. The data analyzed underlines the need for an effective Catechesis
on the Eucharist for young people in Asia. Archbishop Lawrence John Saldanha of
Lahore, Pakistan is attending the plenary. He spoke to Fr. Joseph Cheung about
the relationship between young people and the Eucharist in his church particularly
in the wake of recent anti- Christian violence.
