'Be Hopeful, Spread Goodness': Archbishop Moras tells Prisoners

(August 13, 2009) Tears trickled down the eyes of several prisoners, young and old, as Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore Arch Diocese told prisoners at the Bangalore Central Jail: "You can feel the goodness of God everywhere, even in the prison if you could think of the love and forgiveness God has for you. His goodness shines on the sinner and the saint like the sun shines over everyone" The Archbishop also administered the sacraments of confirmation and Holy Communion to two prisoners. He also inaugurated a computer centre in the prison, set up by the Prison Ministry- India. "It is my earnest prayer that you experience a new hope in life and get a new lease of life". The Archbishop along with members of the Church-run Prison Ministry of India had a belated birthday celebrations with the Prisoners and spent 4 hours with them. He applauded the work of the Prison Ministry which is engaged in providing rehabilitation programs for released prisoners and homes for family members of those serving a sentence. Sunday, August 9^th is celebrated as the Prison Ministry Sunday in India.
