Death threats against Christian in Madhya Pradesh


(July 17, 2009) In India, Hindu extremists allegedly belonging to the pro-Hindu group, Bajrang Dal, damaged the house of a Christian and threatened to kill the owner on July 7 in Dhindoi, Madhya Pradesh satate, according to a report from the Evangelical Fellowship of India. Christian legal Association general secretary, Tehmina Arora reported that a mob of Hindu extremists went to the construction site and verbally accused the Christian, Rakesh Kumar, for his faith and damaged the construction. Kumar claimed that the construction was not meant for a church but could not convince the extremists. Rakesh Kumar obtained the land from his uncle and started building his house on the first week of June. On July 12, Kumar received a letter from the extremists threatening to murder him.
