Condemnation of the Killing of Prominent Russian Human Rights Activist
(RV - 17 July 09) There has been widespread condemnation following the killing of
the prominent Russian human rights activist Natalya Estemirova.
Estemirova
was found with gun shot wounds after being kidnapped from her home in the Chechnyan
capital Grozny. Before her death she had been investigating alleged abuses by government-backed
militias in Chechnya.
