(20 June 09 - RV) Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai had a message today
for UK exiles from his country, it was, come home. Tsvangirai, who joined President
Robert Mugabe in a powersharing deal in February, made the appeal to exiles in a London
church today. But he was forced off the stage by protesters who want Mugabe to
step down. Zimbabwe has had the highest inflation rate in the world, many people
have teetered on the edge of starvation, and human rights abuses have persisted. The
Zimbabwe Vigil which has been holding demonstrations outside the country’s embassy
in London for the last few years, was one of the groups present at the meeting. We
spoke to it’s press officer Dennis Benton who told us more.
