Global Week of Action Against Cluster Bombs Underway

(1 June 09 - RV) The Global Week of Action against Cluster Bombs is underway and runs until the 4^th June. The week takes place one year after the negotiations and formal adoption of the Convention in Dublin, Ireland. The Holy See was one of the states to ratify the treaty, but 30 countries more countries need to ratify it for the accord to come into force.
Senior Policy Advisor on Disarmament and Human Rights at Pax Christi International is Father Paul Lansu. He says although negotiation and adoption of the of the Convention is a great achievement, much of the real work remains.
