(May 29, 2009) An Indian priest from Tamil Nadu state in Southern India has been
honoured with the prestigious Rashtriya Gaurav Award for meritorious services, outstanding
performance and remarkable role played towards protecting the rights of the minorities
in the country. Fr.Vincent Chinnadurai received the Rashtriya Gaurav (National Pride
Honour) from former governor of Tamil Nadu and Assam Dr. Bhishma Narian Singh at a
colourful event in New Delhi on 20th May organized by India International Friendship
Society. The same day, Fr.Vincent also received the Glory of India Gold Medal with
a Certificate of Excellence for securing the rights of minorities in the country during
a function organized by the International Institute of Success Awareness. The award
was presented by Dr.GVK Krishnamurthy, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India.
Currently, Fr.Vincent is the Secretary for the Commission for Social Communications
of Tamil Nadu Bishops Conference, Director of Santhome Communications Centre, Chairman,
Minority Commission of Government of Tamil Nadu and President of Signis, Tamil Nadu,
an affiliate the worldwide association of Catholic communication and media professionals.
