Israel Rebuffs US Settlement Plea

(28 May 09 - RV) Israel rebuffed a strong plea today from its close ally the United States to stop all building in Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.
U.S. President Barack Obama, who hopes to revive Middle East peace negotiations, is due to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas later today.
