Plea for End to Sri Lankan Fighting

(23 May 09 - RV) The US and UK have urged Sri Lanka's government and Tamil Tiger rebels to stop fighting "immediately" and allow an evacuation of trapped civilians. The shelling attacks _ which the U.N. labeled a «bloodbath» _ marked some of the worst violence since the civil war flared up again more than three years ago.
