(17 Apr 09 - RV) On Monday, Sri Lanka said that Norway could no longer serve as mediator
between it and the Tamil Tigers. This came after pro-rebel demonstrators trashed the
Sri Lankan embassy in Oslo, for which the Norwegian authorities issued no arrests. The
Sri Lankan foreign ministry said that Norway had shown sheer neglect of its obligations
to protect the embassy and was disrespecting the sovreignity of Sri Lanka. We spoke
to Jehan Perera from the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka to ask if this meant
an end to the hopes of a peaceful resolution to the humanitarian crisis in Sri Lanka.
