Key Catholic Scholar on Islam Discusses Progress of Dialogue

(19 February 2009-RV)"Dialogue and Truth Claims in Christianity and Islam is the title of a conference which was hosted yesterday by the Pontifical Institute for Islamic and Arabic studies in Rome. Father Christian Troll, a German Jesuit, is one of the Catholic Church's leading scholars of Islam and a key figure in the Catholic-Islamic dialogue launched by Pope Benedict XVI's September 2006 Regensburg Lecture and the Common Word Initiative. Speaking yesterday at the institute Father Troll said the criteria for progress in dialogue centres on how charity is understood and lived out.
