(14 Feb 09 - RV) All across the world today, men and women gift chocolates and roses
to their loved ones to mark St Valentine’s Day. As the popular story goes, the priest
Valentine was a kind-hearted man who married young Christian couples against the wishes
of the Roman emperor and was beheaded for his deeds around the year 270 AD. But according
to early martyrologies there were at least two Valentines who lived in the third century.
One was the bishop of Terni in Italy while the other was a Christian priest in Rome....
