(December 8, 2008) The Catholic church will soon have 6 new saints. Pope Benedict
XVI on Saturday cleared 6 miracles, thus authorizing the canonization of two Spaniards,
two Italians, a French and a Pole. Besides them, the Pope also recognized the heroic
virtues of an Italian priest, a Dutch brother and a Portuguese nun. Among those
cleared for sainthood are 19th century Polish archbishop of Warsaw Sigismondo Felice
Felinski, Spanish Trappist Oblate brother Raffaele Arnáiz Barón who died in 1938,
Italian priest Arcangelo Tadini, who died in 1912, Spanish priest Francesco Coll Y
Guitart, who died in 1875, French nun Maria Della Croce Jugan who died in 1879 and
Italian nun Caterina Volpicelli, who died 1894. The dates for the canonization of
the six new saints will be fixed at a later date.
