(23 Oct 08 - RV) President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has said that a summit of African
leaders was a chance to remind them that they needed to do more to enhance and benefit
from integration. He was speaking during the official opening of the first meeting
of 3 African Development Associations in Kampala, Uganda. Rwanda has become a regional
leader, with record levels of growth. But the country, which is landlocked, needs
better integration with its neighbours in order to expand its economy. Over a decade
after a genocide which killed nearly a million people, Rwanda has become an example
of good governance in Africa. The country has also begun accepting back the hundreds
of thousands of refugees which fled the violence of the 1990’s. Bishop William
Pascal Kikoti of Mpanda, in Tanzania, tells us about the thousands of refugees
leaving his diocese.
