(16 Oct 08 - RV) Earlier today, Pope Benedict sent a message to the United Nations
Food and Agriculture Organisation to mark UN World Food Day. In it he said, an essential
condition to increase food production levels, was to give agricultural workers access
to land and to promote their rights. Amy Barry is a spokesperson for the aid agency
Oxfam. She told us that there are underlying problems in trade and agriculture that
have contributed to the global food crisis.
