(10 Oct 08 - RV) Christians in India’s eastern Orissa state are being forced to convert
to Hinduism as they return home from government camps following over a month of religious
persecution. The assassination of a Hindu leader by Maoist rebels initially sparked
the violence that killed an estimated 40 people and left dozens of churches and Christian
homes in ruins. Archbishop Raphael Cheenath of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar in Orissa told
us that the tens of thousands of people in the camps are too afraid to return to their
homes..
