Christians in Orissa too Afraid to Return Home


(10 Oct 08 - RV) Christians in India’s eastern Orissa state are being forced to convert to Hinduism as they return home from government camps following over a month of religious persecution.
The assassination of a Hindu leader by Maoist rebels initially sparked the violence that killed an estimated 40 people and left dozens of churches and Christian homes in ruins.
Archbishop Raphael Cheenath of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar in Orissa told us that the tens of thousands of people in the camps are too afraid to return to their homes..
