Christians in Relief Camps Continue to be Threatened

(1 Oct 08 - RV) At least one person was killed and a dozen others injured in the Kandhamal district of India’s Orissa state, yesterday, after Hindus attacked Christians, setting fire to their homes and one of their churches.
More than a month of violent persecution has forced some 24,000 Christians into camps, and tens of thousands more to flee to other parts of the country. Spokesperson for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India Fr Babu Joseph says even in the relief camps, the Christians are still being threatened.
