EU resolution asks to end violence against Christians
(September 25, 2008) The European parliament on Wednesday adopted a resolution condemning
the anti-Christian violence in India, affirming the need to punish the criminals and
compensate the victims. The plenary session adopted a wide-ranging resolution ahead
of the upcoming European Union-India summit scheduled to take place on 29 September
in Marseille, France. The resolution focuses on the extension strategic relationship
between India European Union especially in the fields of economy and international
politics. The resolution expressed “deep concern” for attacks against Christians,
calling for compensation to be paid out to Churches and individuals for the property
they lost. The resolution also stressed the need for arresting perpetrators of the
violence. It also urged central government and other national administrative systems
to take steps to end violence and protect Christian minority.
