(11 Sep 08 - RV) Thailand's army commander urged the caretaker government on Thursday
to lift a state of emergency because of the damage it was causing the country, as
ruling parties continued horsetrading over who to elect prime minister. Protesters
occupying Thailand's seat of government said today they would not accept any candidates
from parliament's dominant People Power Party as a replacement for the disqualified
Prime Minister.
