Growing Immigrant Population Poses Challenges for French Church
(11 Sept 08-RV) Pope Benedict is scheduled to leave Italy tomorrow for a four day
trip to France. He will be visiting Paris and the Marian Shrine of Lourdes, which
is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Apparitions to Saint Bernadette. It is
the first trip by a Pope to France since Pope John Paul II visited Lourdes in 2004.
Bishop Michel Marie Jacques Dubost of the Diocese of Evry-Corbeil-Essonnes spoke to
Philippa Hitchen about the challenges facing the Church in France. Phillipa asked
him about the relations between the Church and the country’s growing Muslim population
