US Bishops Respond to House Speaker Pelosi's Statements on Abortion

(28 Aug 08-RV) The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a statement responding to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent statements regarding the Church’s position on abortion, in which she said the Church's teaching on abortion is no more than half a century old and is still an open question. The bishops say direct abortion is gravely contrary to the moral law, and that the Church’s teaching has on abortion has always been the same and remains unchangeable.
