Three Months After Cyclone Nargis Aid Still Needed
(02 Aug 08 - RV) Three months after Cyclone Nargis hit Burma some survivors have still
not received much aid.
Many of the 2.5 million people affected by the cyclone
are dependent on aid because their source of income has been destroyed.
Rebuilding
homes and getting farmers back to work are urgent priorities in cyclone-hit areas
of the country, where so many cannot count on receiving any assistance.
A representative
of Christian Aid, a relief organisation working in Burma, who asked not to be identified
because of the sensitivity of her work, told us more about the urgent need to provide
people with food, shelter, medicine and clean water.
