Deadline Nears for Iranian Response to Threatened Sanctions
(1 Aug 08 - RV) Tomorrow marks the deadline by which Iran must answer calls to rein
in its nuclear activities or face further sanctions.
At a July 19 meeting
in Geneva envoys from world powers gave Iran two weeks to answer calls to curb uranium
enrichment.
In a shift of policy, U.S. diplomat William Burns joined other
envoys for the meeting with an Iranian delegate. This recent engagement with Iran
by the U.S has caused concern in Israel and it has urged the Bush administration to
stand firm on demanding Tehran abandon nuclear projects with bomb-making potential. Mark

and Iran.
