New Violence Threatens Fragile Mideast Ceasefire

(11 July 08 -RV) Israeli troops today shot dead an armed Palestinian man in a clash in the occupied West Bank. An Israeli soldier was also lightly hurt in the clash. The violence could further disrupt a shaky ceasefire between Israel and Hamas-led militant groups, which applies only in the Gaza Strip. However Franciscan Father David Jaeger says the ceasefire was never intended as a long-term agreement.
