Treason Charges For Top Zimbabwean Official

(12 June 08 - RV) Police say a top opposition official detained in Zimbabwe will be charged with treason.

Opposition party officials say Tendai Biti was detained today at Harare airport.

Biti is the secretary-general of presidential candidate Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for
Democratic Change party.

Tsvangirai was also detained briefly while campaigning, before being released.
