Violence Continues in Sri Lanka's Embattled North

(05 April 08-RV) The Sri Lankan military said today that scattered battles between government troops and Tamil Tiger separatists across Sri Lanka's embattled north have killed 15 rebels and one soldier. Reports of fighting have increased in recent months amid government promises to capture the rebels' de facto state in the north. Archbishop of Colombo Oswald Gomis says that the army, now in the Madu region, predicts total victory within one year. RealAudioMP3
