The Church Prays for the Release of Chaldean Archbishop
(1 March 2008 -RV) In Iraq, the funerals were held this morning for the three people
killed yesterday during the kidnapping of the Chaldean archbishop of Mosul, Faraj
Rahho. The victims were the Archbishop’s driver and two of his bodyguards. All three
were the fathers of families, each with three children. There has been no further
news on Archbishop Rahho since he was seized at gunpoint following a Church ceremony.
Yesterday evening Pope Benedict the 16th appealed that “reason and humanity
may prevail in the authors of the kidnapping and that the Archbishop may be restored
as soon as possible to the care of his flock.” We spoke to Fr. Philip Najeem, representative
to the Holy See for the Chaldean Patriarch of Baghdad...
